Emerita Lvdica is a Festival of Tourist Interest in Extremadura that revives, for several days, the festive and everyday atmosphere of ancient Augusta Emerita.
The official programme places this 16th edition between 18 and 24 May 2026, with Roman markets, rituals, historical re-enactments, family activities, lectures, parades and participatory proposals in some of the city’s most emblematic monumental spaces.
What to expect
The experience combines heritage, historical interpretation and a festive atmosphere for visitors, re-enactors, families and enthusiasts of the Roman world.
Between 20 and 24 May, Roman markets are scheduled around the Temple of Diana, Arco de Trajano and Graciano, with craftspeople, workshops and an atmosphere inspired by Roman civic life.
The programme includes ritual routes, religious ceremonies, funeral scenes, gladiator training, the purchase of gladiators and fire-themed evocations in Augusta Emerita.
There are activities for children and families, including archaeology for children, a play area, Roman games and participatory activities requiring prior registration on the event website.
The Temple of Diana, Roman Theatre, Roman Circus, Columbarios, Open Museum of Mérida, Huerta de Otero and the Alcazaba are all part of the cultural route of this edition.
